Blame It On July, Again

How did it become July?

In case you’re wondering - this is where I write you from…

A beautiful corner of the house, high atop Queen Street in St. Marys…grateful for the freedom to share these little details with you…grateful to have the time to write.

A few of you came to our last Zoom hang and I was so happy that you did. We are a little family, and if any of you are reading this, unsure if you want to come to the next hang, please set any of your reservations aside and join us. We just talk about life, what’s up, new books, new music and I talk a little about the events that have transpired since our last hang. I will be announcing August’s soon in a newsletter so stay tuned for that. Some of you asked about a song I performed in concert at Home County Music and Art Festival last weekend. It is a song by my late professor, Terry McManus, entitled "Life Goes On". I feel like it's such a healing little tune - I performed it at his funeral (very nervously with Michael by my side) and then again on Saturday, as it was Terry's birthday. I didn't know that it was when I planned to sing it - his daughter told me and was so moved that I was able to share it. "Life Goes On" - my home demo - is in rare songs.

I am traveling to Maine in about a week to shoot with Jessica Weiser, my treasured friend of many years who has shot so many album covers. If you are a Kickstarter supporter, you know that the album cover for “Business & Pleasure” is one of her shots - actually from the Torrential era, but we have never used it for anything and it seemed perfect for the vibe of the new album. The idea is to take a little time for myself, some time to reflect on what has been a 6 year span of healing and recovery - from grief, from addiction, from love lost....to a place of immense gratitude. So grateful for my love, for all of you, for the album, the news of 3 record labels coming on board to help the release!! If ever there was a time to celebrate good things, it is now. I'm also reminded to not stay in the healing loop too long, to move out of it and to live.

Love all of you, stay tuned for more news.
