From the stages of Glastonbury Festival to the set of Saturday Night Live, my life has been a kaleidoscope of music, creativity, and unapologetic passion. As an artist, I’ve shared my voice on world-class stages and collaborated with legends like David Bowie and Def Leppard, while pioneering my own path in a music industry rife with change.
I’ve always been drawn to the transformative power of music. At 10 years old, songwriting became my lifeline in a chaotic household. By my late teens, I was on a path to stardom, signing a worldwide deal with Mercury Records. But when that deal vanished in a $10-billion merger, I didn’t crumble—I rebuilt. Founding one of Canada’s first independent record labels, Dead Daisy Records, I released my own music alongside projects from other talented artists like Sarah Slean and Royal Wood, carving out a space for authenticity in an unpredictable industry.
My journey hasn’t been without storms. After becoming a mother and navigating a blindsiding divorce, I turned once again to music and my voice as a source of resilience. In 2018, the release of Glastonbury 2000, a concert I performed with Bowie, served as a powerful reminder of the healing energy of music. It reignited my belief that the voice isn’t just an instrument—it’s a lifeline, a force of connection, and an expression of raw humanity.
Creativity, for me, doesn’t stop at the mic. I’ve had the privilege of working on groundbreaking projects, like collaborating with Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield to create the first music video filmed in space. My book, The Healing Power of Singing: Raise Your Voice, Change Your Life (ECW Press), became an Amazon bestseller and is a testament to the unique ways music can shape and uplift lives.
Now, I’m exploring new horizons, pursuing a degree in Psychological Science to deepen my understanding of the human spirit. Whether I’m writing songs or recording albums, my mission remains the same: to connect, inspire, and remind others of the transformative power of creativity.
